FTTH
Fiber-To-The-Home
High-speed Internet, triple play (TV, telephone and Internet via one connection), video on demand as well as data connections between companies and their branches require ever more powerful networks. The existing infrastructure, which has grown over decades, can no longer keep up with the ever faster growing requirements. It is therefore only logical to bring the high-performance fiber optic networks of the wide area network (WAN) closer to the end user, be it a corporate customer or private consumer. A prominent example of this is fiber to the home. This requires an extensive range of product solutions, from optical couplers, optical fibers and corresponding connectors to coaxial connectors and application-specific RJ45 connectors for office and home applications.
The various fiber optic applications are grouped together under the collective name FTTx.

Tip
The terms "Fiber to the ..." are often not used consistently in practice. It is therefore advisable to define exactly how the network should be designed.
