<p>Old connector design, used for uninterruptible connection boxes with two BNC sockets in coaxial Ethernet cabling (10 Base-2) (EAD=Ethernet connection box). The TAE connector on the telephone connection cable looks similar, but the EAD connector had two differently positioned mechanical coding tabs (coding "E") so that it could not be accidentally plugged into a telephone connection. The better-shielded successor to the EAD system with a surrounding shielding plate was called the scEAD connector (scEAD = screened EAD). Telegärtner is the inventor and developer of EAD/scEAD.
