<p>According to ISO/IEC 11801, cables and wires are classified according to their shielding. The designation scheme is "x/yTP," where "x" stands for the overall shield and "y" for the shield of the individual wire pairs.<br />U/UTP:<br />unshielded twisted pair; no overall shielding, no pair shielding, as a completely unshielded cable.
